About

Pierre Gathy.

I am graduating Duke University in May 2026, with a B.S.E in Mechanical Engineering. My next step is Deloitte, where I will be working as a Technology Enablement & Transformation Analyst. My interests span engineering, finance, markets, space, data, ML, entrepeneurship, photography and everything in between.

Some resume highlights

RBC Bearings - Design and Manufacturing Engineering intern, May-Aug 2025. Built a VBA tool on the SolidWorks API that automated drawing generation, cutting bushing drawing prep time by roughly 90 percent while standardizing GD&T handoff to manufacturing. Also completed a Painting Quality Work Plan that standardized Caltrans coating workflows and cut plan-preparation time by about 50 percent.

Truss-Braced Wing aerostructures research - May-Aug 2025. Reviewed more than 30 NASA and Boeing studies on truss-braced wing concepts, mapped the biggest gaps in drag interference, CFD-to-wind-tunnel correlation, flutter and buffet coverage, and surface-finish sensitivity, and proposed design and test improvements for future work.

Skydweller Aero - Software Integration intern, Jul-Aug 2021. Wrote a Python-based compliance verification tool using the SCADE Suite API to check 30-plus avionics modeling conventions automatically, reaching full automation and reducing manual review time by roughly 90 percent.

Space Traffic Management Digital Twin - Feb 2025 to present. Built a space traffic monitoring platform that combines a live satellite API with J2-perturbed orbital simulation fallback, then uses KDTree-based collision detection and parallel processing to monitor 15-plus satellites and surface risks through executive-level visualizations.

Hands-on engineering projects. On Duke Combat Robotics, worked on the power system, ESC and motor wiring, radio setup, and drivetrain and weapon design tradeoffs. Earlier, co-designed and built a medium-powered rocket in CAD, sized for an estimated 1000-meter apogee, then fabricated the airframe and planned launch and post-flight inspection procedures.
